Rock'em Sock'em Robots
An idea I've had for a long time is to re-do the classic 60's toy into a more realistic version by adding alien pilots and their cockpits to create a sci-fi chariot battle scene. The robots are original toys with a few additions, mainly struts and cables inside the arms and of course the chariot set up. I tried to stay with the retro rivet styling and even made the aliens' controlers to resemble the thumb button ones from the original game. It's a fun piece and just shows how some things never die.
A Few Big Heads
I've been very fortunate to be able to work with Mark Brokaw and Earthbound Studios. His Bighead series of 1950's B-movie monster busts are a real favorite of mine. It seems like almost yesterday I was planted in front of the TV watching these movies on "Science Fiction Theatre" with our Horror Host of the day, Count Sven during the early to mid 1960's. Here's a few for starters including a couple pictures of the Invasion of the Saucermen display at Wonderfest a few years ago.
